FISHING All kinds of fishing, all year round in the BEST waters in Belize, Placencia can proudly call itself a fishermen’s paradise. Whether its fly-fishing, spin cast, trolling or deep sea our waters have the catch that you are yearning for.

Placencia hooks the attention of every angler, from newbie to pro. For a sport fishing vacation, one could hardly find a better destination. nowhere else in the Caribbean do fishermen enjoy such a wide variety of species in such a beautiful natural setting.

With Flats, river and offshore action ... The great abundance endures all year. Tarpon, snook, permit and bonefish thrive across diverse habitat. CAtching three of the species in a day is called a grand slam..

Neophytes do well, discovering the joys of catching, not just fishing. With such a wonderful stock of snappers, jack crevalles, barracuda and ladyfishes to snag, mom and the kids have fun too. Flats / Fly Fishing Fishermen go after bonefish, the most numerous game, noted for its strength, speed, and willingness to take a fly. Bonefish average two to four pounds, some to eight pounds. They feed on crabs, mollusks and shrimp.

Many consider the wary permit, perhaps the most prized light-tackle game, as the Holy Grail of fly fishing. Elusive inshore permits feed in deeper water of two to four feet. They eat crabs, sometimes shrimp and will chase flies and lures over the flats.

Belizean waters teem with legendary tarpon, known as the Silver King, pound for pound the strongest, most acrobatic fish in salt water. Tarpon swim deeper than bones or permit, frequenting rivers, lagoons, channels, cuts, grass, banks and the edge of flats. They range from five to 200 pounds. They eat crabs, mullet, shrimp, pinfish, sardines, marine worms, needlefish and squid.

Fishermen know southern Belize for its amazing number of permits, The clear waters off Placencia allow angers to wade in and and sight fish for cruising and tailing permits. Placencia is among the best bonefish haunts. Reef/offshore Yellowtail, mutton, snapper, grouper, jack crevalle and barracuda swim the deeper waters outside of the belize Barrier Reef. IN shallower waters, mangrove, mutton, gray and yellowtail snapper can be caught all year. Land a kingfish inside the reef or out.

Offshore fishing revs up during tournament season (June - Lobsterfest) when anglers target kingfish, wahoo, yellow and black tuna, sailfish and blue marlin. April and May are the best month. River fishing Jungle birds, crocodiles, iguanas, black howler monkeys and manatees greet anglers in the numerous rivers and stream of Belize. CAtch tarpon, snook, jacks and cubera snapper all year.
Equipment Many guides provide equipment BUT ardent fly fishermen and spin casters bring their own. Remember to pack lines, flies, lures, tippets, leaders, pliers, hook file, polarized glasses, waterproof boat bag, and pocket knife.

FLY FISHINGSpend your day working local flats, reefs and outer cayes for species like bonefish, the illusive permit, tarpon and barracuda.  By wading or from the casting deck of the boat, your guides will create the best opportunity to land your dream fish.  Perhaps you can rack up the grand slam of bonefish, permit and tarpon.  We will offer good advice as to how to improve your casting skills and your fish-catching ability.

SPIN & BAIT CASTING  Using artificial lures, jigs and live bait we will comb just about any area within and around the barrier reef.  We can go anywhere to suit the needs of our anglers while providing them with the availability of a variety of game fish, and is one of the best ways to get non-stop fish catching action all day.

TROLLING INSIDE THE BARRIER REEF Using light tackle, cut or live bait and artificial lures we go after king fish, jacks, and other varieties of pelagic species. This is an easy and fun way to have an exciting day of fishing.

DEEP SEA FISHING Artificial lures, rigged ballyhoo and fast trolling techniques are used to try your luck at the chance of getting the great blue marlin, sailfish, dolphin (mahi mahi), and Wahoo on the outside of the barrier reef. This type of fishing makes for long days covering great distance just waiting for the big one.

BOTTOM FISHINGUsing hook, line and sinker and a vast variety of local bait we go after snapper, groupers and other bottom dwellers. This is the most productive type of fishing, providing you with non-stop action all day long. In Belize, this method what most traditional fishermen use to catch fish for more than 150 years.

ALL LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE Spin & Bait Casting, and Trolling Inside the Barrier Reef is recommended for an easy day on the water With a the best chance of coming home with the trophy  fish.

ADVANCED For Fly Fishing it is best if you have some experience, and it is recommend that if you bring you own equipment , please check it by setting it up and taking a few practice cast on the front lawn.
