Balatonboglar

Balatonboglar is a cozy town that adorns the southern shore of Lake Balaton with resort opportunities. The distance from the capital of Budapest by only 150 kilometers stimulates the natural interest of tourists with the full transport accessibility of this village.

Mentioned for the first time by ancient chroniclers in 1211, Balatonboglar made his name sound before the Turkish invasion, reaching heights in viticulture and the inevitably concomitant of this craft of winemaking. And in the resort direction, the town began to develop at the turn of the century – an idealistically romantic nineteenth and unpredictably stormy twentieth.

The spiritual needs of tourists are not forgotten in Balatonboglar. Remaining from the past Chapels – Red and Blue are especially attractive on rainy days. Constructed simultaneously on the chapel – Catholic and Protestant – now gave shelter to exhibitions held here regularly.

In addition to relaxed relaxation, Balatonboglar encourages visitors to improve their health. The presence of geothermal sources characteristic of the region here prompted local residents to build comfortable baths. Thus, along with purely tourist opportunities, this town provides qualified spa services.

Among other things, Balatonboglar attracts with its universality of the age contingent of vacationers. The presence of a variety of hotels, cottages, boarding houses and villas allows you to choose temporary accommodation in accordance with the tastes, preferences and financial opportunities of visitors. So, long family vacations are favored by the special atmosphere of a single residential area, which is successfully imitated by the compactly located buildings here.

Young people are attracted by the possibilities of a beach holiday. For example, the Platanstrand beach located here, capable of covering a dozen football fields with its area, is the largest on Lake Balaton. Among the advantages of this beach is a small slope of the gently sloping bottom, allowing you to gradually plunge into the gentle waters. For this reason, lake water quickly heats up in the summer, feeling the graceful warmth of the body of bathers, among whom the kids feel (thanks to the protracted shallow water) more than comfortable.

Active entertainment is not forgotten either. In addition to several tennis courts and volleyball courts awaiting refreshing players, the lake itself is in no hurry to let go of tourists who have fallen into its water embrace. Leased catamarans and boats allow you to admire the coastal beauties from the mirror surface of Balaton.

A tourist is not saturated with a single beach. The Blogar wine festival, which brought the town the status of an “international wine city”, amazes the flesh of a vacationer, devoured by the sun and lake. There is no shortage of amber berries – 3,500 hectares of elite vineyards provide winemakers with excellent raw materials. The original varieties bred here, distinguished by their special sweetness and juiciness, yield exceptional wines that delight true connoisseurs.

The main event of the water life of Balatonboglar is considered the annual July swim of amateur swimmers across the lake. A fairly long route, reaching 5.2 kilometers, connects the southern Balatonboglar with its northern coastal counterpart – the town of Revfülep.
