The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league during the 2025-26 season, joining a growing trend among state associations.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, confirmed the decision. While the launch is planned, the GCA is still working to identify an appropriate window in the cricket calendar for the tournament. Further details, such as the number of participating teams, are yet to be finalized.
These domestic T20 leagues have become vital scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra already provide invaluable opportunities for local cricketers to gain exposure and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues typically take place in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
