Cricket Australia on Saturday announced that fan zones dedicated to Indian supporters for the upcoming white-ball series between Australia and India have sold out nearly 50 days before the first ball is bowled, highlighting the soaring demand for the contests between two of the game's biggest draws.
Public tickets for matches in Sydney and Canberra have also been fully booked, with Cricket Australia urging spectators to secure seats for the remaining fixtures as they too are selling quickly.
"We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to the Indian fan zones selling out across all eight venues," said Joel Morrison, Cricket Australia's Executive General Manager, Events and Operations. "We are excited to see the momentum building around this series and the strong passion fans continue to display for the game. "We're looking forward to a vibrant atmosphere in the stands and a world-class contest on the field between two great cricketing nations."
India's tour begins with the one-day international opener on 19 October at Perth Stadium, followed by fixtures at Adelaide Oval on 23 October and the Sydney Cricket Ground on 25 October. Batting stalwarts Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma are expected to feature in the 50-over format, having stepped away from Test and Twenty20 internationals.
The ODIs will be followed by a five-match Twenty20 international series, starting on 29 October at Manuka Oval in Canberra. The series will then move to the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 31 October, Bellerive Oval in Hobart on 2 November, Gold Coast Stadium on 6 November and The Gabba in Brisbane on 8 November.
This season marks the first time that men's internationals will be staged across all eight Australian states and territories, with Canberra and Hobart both hosting India during the T20 leg. The last bilateral ODI series between the two sides in Australia came in 2020-21, when the hosts prevailed 2-1, before India leveled matters by taking the T20I series by the same scoreline.
